Since 2021, Agility has supported the Soronko Academy, and its technology skills development program for women in Ghana. At the Agility Logistics Parks facility in Tema, Ghana, Soronko provides free software development, ICT and soft skills training to young women that are starting businesses, seeking employment or trying to advance their careers. Soronko Academy’s “Code with Agility” program includes subjects like website development, search engine optimization, digital marketing, data analytics and other technology and software development topics.
From 2021 through 2024, we backed programs that assisted 292 people.
Since 2022, Agility has supported the Novick Cardiac Alliance (NCA) with several surgical missions, including two to Libya, and one to Lebanon and the DRC. During these missions, the NCA team provides free heart surgeries to children with congenital heart defects or heart diseases. In addition to providing free surgeries, the NCA team of surgeons, doctors, nurses, practitioners and staff provide free training to local medical professionals to enable them to be able to complete similar life-saving pediatric surgeries. In addition to free training, the NCA team also donates urgently required medical equipment to help local facilities. Agility has provided in-kind transportation of medical equipment and cash donations to help fund the cost of the medical missions.
Since 2022, this work has benefitted almost 740 people.
Following the 2023 earthquake in Turkey and Syria Agility and its employees donated enough funds to feed about 43,000 refugees impacted by the earthquake. In addition to this Agility also supported the UN Global Logistics Cluster’s response operations in Turkey. Agility supported the Cluster’s provision of warehouse services to NGO’s working to assist beneficiaries in recovering from the disaster. From March to May, 3,518 m3 of humanitarian cargo was stored in the Logistics Cluster’s common warehouses in Adiyaman, Hatay, and Malatya. The stored items were used by NGO partners to support tens of thousands of displaced persons and beneficiaries in need of assistance.
On September 9th an earthquake struck central Morocco. The biggest city impacted was Marrakesh, but the most severe impact was in the mostly mountainous and rural regions of south-central Morocco. In these locations about 3,000 people were killed, and tens of thousands of people lost homes and possessions. This area of the country is mountainous, and the nighttime temperatures are very cold even in summer. With autumn and winter approaching shelter, food and life support assistance was of critical importance. Agility provided funding to Amis des Ecoles so they could quickly construct a tented school, complete with a kitchen and bathrooms, for 100 kids to make sure the earthquake did not keep the kids away from learning. In addition, the Amis des Ecoles team procured and distributed critically need items including shelter, clothing, blankets, life support essentials and food for 120 families – including 600 children – in need of assistance.
Agility and Menzies Aviation continue to support the rebuilding and refurbishment of the l’Ecole Primaire Publique school in Cote d’Ivoire, focusing on upgrading the classrooms at the school. In addition, local Menzies team members are supporting the school and its students by paying for the internet and maintenance of computers and providing three scholarships for the best students in need to help them attend high school, college and university.
Since 2018, Agility has supported Oiada International and its employment training programs in Ghana, as well as Oiada’s student outreach programs in Turkey and Brazil.
In Ghana, Agility and Oiada have partnered to provide free training to young people joining the workforce or starting businesses. Past training has included electrician apprentice certification, computers & technology, brickmaking & construction skills, and soft skills for employment and career development. The training provides young people with skills they need to join the workforce or create businesses in a rapidly developing local economy. Training courses take place at the Agility Logistics Park in Tema, Ghana.
In addition, Oiada and Agility have partnered to help young people in Brazil and Turkey, connecting them with Agility leaders and team members around the world to better understand sustainability and supply chain issues from different cultural perspectives.
From 2018 through 2023, we reached 700+ people.
In October 2022, Agility sponsored RunQ8, a charity fun run benefiting the Fawzia Sultan Healthcare Network. 20 Agility employees participated in the event, and Agility matched employee registration donations dollar for dollar. Funds raised from the race are directed to children of low-income families who do not have access to appropriate healthcare services. This is Agility’s 10th year sponsoring RunQ8.
Agility and Menzies partnered to fund a training program in the UK which assists people with a background of homelessness to access real training opportunities. The program also provides 6 to 12 week placements, allowing trainees to learn the skills needed in the hospitality sector through on the job training alongside wrap around support from our social impact team. The program will train 20 people / year.
